Thiruvananthapuram: The district health administration has issued warning against water-borne diseases as monsoon has intensified in the district. The warning was issued as 72 cases of diarrhoeal diseases were reported from various parts of the district on Thursday. People should maintain utmost hygiene personally and while handling food and drinking water. Oral rehydration salts solution should be used in the event of diarrhoea. Meanwhile, 40 cases of suspected chikungunya and four fever cases suspected to be dengue were reported from the district on Thursday. Another case of imported malaria was again reported from Pozhiyoor area. Medical camps were organised at Perumkadavila, Beemappally and Veeranakavu, which was attended by 1,003 persons. Fever cases numbered 98. Camps will be held at Kallara, Palode and Vellarada on Friday.
