Internet facility at Secretariat press room

The new facility will help in quicker news dissemination

CHENNAI: Information and Publicity Minister Parithi Ilamvazhuthi on Thursday inaugurated the broadband wireless Internet facility at the Secretariat press room . This followed a request from the press corps.

The facility is available on two telephones provided by the BSNL and the Government would spend around Rs.10,000 each month to maintain the facility. About 20 journalists can use the facility at the same time.

The Minister said the Government was committed to functioning in a transparent manner. The new facility would facilitate quicker dissemination of news.

Information Secretary T. Rajendran and senior officials from the Directorate of Information Public Relations explained the various features of the service.
