Belgaum: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) authorities here have dismissed as mere rumour the report that mischievous and anti-social elements or terrorists were transferring deadly virus through calls and SMS on mobile phones. Senior officials in the BSNL told The Hindu here on Friday that the rumour started after a Telugu TV channel carried a report about the virus in Bidar district only to issue a clarification some days later. A BSNL official said it was not possible to tran sfer virus through an encoded system as used by mobile phone service providers. — Staff Correspondent
