Chief Minister to participate in a function at Jigajinagi Lambani women and men will present a cultural programme
BIJAPUR: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy is scheduled to visit the district for two days from Saturday. The district has been experiencing moderate to heavy rain since Friday noon. This may affect the Chief Minister’s two-day tour of Bijapur district. According to weather forecast for the next 48 hours, there would be rainfall in north interior Karnataka. Mr. Kumaraswamy is scheduled to reach Jigajinagi village in Indi taluk at 5.30 p.m. on Saturday and spend that night at Suramuttina Lambani Tanda, four km. from there. Arrangements
According to N. Shivaraj, Assistant Commissioner of Indi Subdivision, who has been camping at Suramuttina Tanda to oversee the arrangements for the Chief Minister’s programme, the tanda and surrounding areas had been receiving heavy rain since Friday noon. If the same weather continued, it might not be possible for the Chief Minister to arrive here by helicopter, he told The Hindu. However, the district administration has geared up to receive the Chief Minister, who is scheduled to participate in a ceremony at Jigajinagi to lay foundation stone for 15 development projects, including three barrages and three 110 kV power distribution stations to be commissioned at different places in Indi taluk. Public meeting
After addressing a public meeting at Jigajinagi, Mr. Kumaraswamy will proceed to Suramuttina Tanda. According to the revised programme, he will spend that night at the community hall in the tanda after having dinner with Maruthi Vithoba Rathod and his family members. Lambani women and men will present a cultural programme at the thanda on the occasion. Road asphalted
The road between Jigajinagi and the tanda has been asphalted. A one-km pipeline has been laid to supply water from a well in a farmhouse to the community hall. ‘Janata darshan’
The Chief Minister would hold a “Janata darshan” at Jigajinagi on Sunday. Eight counters had been opened in the village to receive grievance letters and petitions from the people, Mr. Shivaraj said.
