Puducherry: The Regional Parmacovigilance Centre (South) attached to the Department of Pharmacology in Jawaharlal Institute of Post-graduate Medical Education and Research here is organising a three-day seminar on “Pharmacovigilance Awareness” for health care professionals from Tuesday. A release from the institute said here on Saturday that Director of the JIPMER K.S.V.K. Subba Rao would inaugurate the seminar, while Director of Health and Family Welfare Services Dilip Kumar Baliga would present a keynote address. The Regional Centre in JIPMER has been engaged in monitoring adverse drug reactions in the southern parts of the country and has under its jurisdiction eight peripheral centres located in Bangalore, Chidambaram, Kochi, Coimbatore, Kolar, Manipal, Mysore and Ooty. These centres are engaged in the monitoring of the adverse drug reactions, the release added. The three-day meet would be marked by deliberations on the first day on “Pharmacovigilance and Free Drug Information Service” for the benefit of medical officers and faculty in various departments. The subsequent two days would be devoted to benefit the postgraduate students, interns and nursing staff.
