Ashwin, Rajini, Preetam shine

CHENNAI: Ashwin Sundar, K. Rajini and Preetam Dev Moses bagged the honours in the qualifiers in the second round of the UCAL-ROLON National Road Racing Championship 2007 for two-wheelers at the Madras Motor Racing Track, Irungattukottai on Saturday.

Group C 2-stroke 110-150 cc e-class saw Moses taking the pole with the fastest lap timing of 2:04:052.

Moses and K. Rajini are the pole leaders in Group D 4-stroke 80-125 cc and 125-160 cc classes with timings of 1:19:062 and 1:16:701 respectively.

In the open category Group B 4-stroke, it is Ashwin Sundar in the pole in the 110-160 cc class having timed the fastest lap of 2:09:636 while the pole honours in the 161-250 cc class went to R. Deepak with a timing of 2:11:493.

In the novices category, Shyam Shankar is in pole in both Group D 4-stroke 80-125 cc and 125-160 cc with the fastest lap timings of 1:25:490 and 1:20:082.

In Group C 2-stroke 110-150 class, the pole leader is M. Venkatesan with a timing of 2:15:865.

Mohammed Jassin with 1:21:357 will start from pole in Group D 2-stroke 110-150 cc class. R.G. Gopal will star in pole in the mopeds category having timed the fastest lap of 1:30:985. Around 100 racers are in the fray.

The races will commence on Sunday at 9.30 a.m. Entry for the public is free. — Special Correspondent
