Nagapattinam: The Mahasamprokshanam of the famous Goddess Amrithavalli samedha Lord Kalyana Ranganathaswamy temple also known as Sri Vayalali Manavala Perumal temple, one of the 108 Vaishnavite Divyadesams, at Tirunagari (known as Tiruvali) village in Sirkazhi taluk in the district, will be performed between 9 a.m. and 10.30 a.m. on Monday (June 25). The preliminary five-day yagasala and other poojas began on Thursday.
Tirunagari is the birth place of Sri Tirumangai Azhwar, an ardent devotee of Lord Narayana (Maha Vishnu). Tirumangai Azhwar and Kulasekara Azhwar performed `Mangala Saasanam’ at the temple and sung `Naalayira Divyaprabandam’ hymns in praise of Lord Narayana and His consort.
More than 200 Agama, Vedic and Divyaprabandam scholars from various parts of the State are participating in the five-day yagasala poojas and Mahasamprokshshanam. Sri U.Ve. Seshadri Bhattachariar of Sirkazhi will be the chief priest heading the yagasala function.
The temple was now renovated after a gap of nearly two decades at cost of several lakhs of rupees. An idol of Tirumangal Azhwar was also installed in the temple. Besides, the main deity of Lord Kalyana Ranganathaswamy, the temple has several other shrines including Lord Narasimha.
Sri Tiruvali Tirunagari Sthalathar Kankarya Samiti has been entrusted with the work of performing the Mahasamprokshanam estimated to cost nearly Rs.15 lakh. The main deities will be taken out in colourful procession on Monday evening.
