Dandu calls loyalists’ meeting

Staff Reporter

ELURU: Feeling sidelined by the party top brass, TDP leader and former Minister Dandu Sivarama Raju convened a meeting of his followers at Attili on Friday in a bid to decide on his political future.

He was reported to have explained to his loyalists in the constituency on how he was bypassed during the visit of party president N. Chandrababu Naidu to the constituency.

Naidu’s visit

Mr. Naidu took part in a slew of party activities, including inauguration of party office at the headquarters of Attili Assembly segment and addressing a rally of party workers at Eeduru village, regardless of the absence of Mr. Sivarama Raju, who is the party convener of the constituency.

It may be recalled that the party membership drive was undertaken and village committees were constituted by the rival group without taking him into confidence.

Young brigade

Mr. Raju faces a threat to his political career from the young brigade. In this backdrop, his followers reportedly advised him against taking any hasty decision.

Meanwhile, the young brigade in the party seem to be gaining an upper hand in Undi, Bhimavaram and Denduluru Assembly segments. Another party leader and former Minister in Undi Kalidindi Ramachandra Raju volunteered to hand over the post of constituency in-charge to a young leader.

The youth in the district appears to be receiving a fresh lease of life following signals from Mr. Naidu in favour of promoting them in the coming elections.
