Pudur panchayat cut off from mainland

PALAKKAD: The Pudur panchayat in Attappady got isolated from the mainland as the foot bridge at Pakkulam was washed away and the Chavadiyur causeway was inundated by the Bhavani on Saturday.

For the people of the panchayat, there is no other land route to Agali or other areas of Attappady as the Bhavani is in spate.

The only way to reach the area now is through Mulli in Tamil Nadu.

The construction of a bridge at Chavadiyur was taken up by the Attappady Hill Area Development Society (AHADS) three years back but it did not reach anywhere except for constructing of some pillars.
