NSS stress on empowerment of the poor

KOTTAYAM: The annual budget of the Nair Service Society (NSS) for 2007-08 presented at Perunna on Saturday envisages an income and expenditure of Rs.51 crore and focuses on the empowerment of the poorer sections and women of the community.

Presenting the budget, his 24th in a row, NSS general secretary P.K. Narayana Panicker said the society would focus on the issues of the poorer sections in the community and a special welfare fund would be created for the purpose. The Rs.1.50-crore purse would be utilised for housing, education, marriage and medical aid for the poorer sections.
