Bidar district gropes in darkness

Bidar: The district experienced long power cuts on Friday night and Saturday.
There was no power supply for nearly 12 hours in the taluks and for six hours in Bidar city. Drinking water supply had been affected due to this, said Shivakumar Sangshetty, a resident of Aurad. Irrigation pumpsets are not working and flour mills have been forced to close down, he said in a complaint sent to Gulbarga Electric Supply Company. The situation was the same in Bhalki, Basava Kalyan and Humnabad. In Bidar, government offices had to use emergency lights on Saturday. Officials of the GESCOM Complaint Cell said the problem would be set right by late evening.
