Tsunami temporary shelters destroyed

NAGAPATTINAM: About 30 tsunami temporary shelters built by a non-governmental organisation at Chinnangudi coastal hamlet near Porayar in Nagapattinam district were destroyed in a fire that broke out on Saturday.

Police sources said the cause of the fire was due to a spark from oven from one of the shelters. Fire service personnel from Tarangampadi put out the fire. Nobody was injured in the accident. Revenue officials visited the spot. — Special Correspondent
