BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh Minister of State for Forests and Scheduled Castes, Prakash Sonkar, passed away at 4 a.m. on Saturday morning at Jhabua. He was 53. Mr. Sonkar’s body was brought to Indore later in the day and cremated with full State honour. Mr. Sonkar was elected to the State Assembly from Sanver in Indore district in 1980, 1992 and 2003. He was inducted as a State Minister in December 2005. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, his Cabinet colleagues Kailash Vijayvargiya and Raghavji and prominent citizens attended the funeral. Expressing grief over the demise of Mr. Sonkar, the Chief Minister described him as a dedicated party worker. “We have lost an admirable politician and a good social worker,” he said. One day’s State mourning was announced and all educational institutions and Government offices were declared closed for half-day on Saturday
