Rs. 3.5 lakh robbed from eSeva centre

HYDERABAD: Two robbers looted Rs. 3.5 lakh from the Banjara Hills eSeva centre at gunpoint after attacking a security guard here on Saturday night. Kumar, the guard, sustained bleeding injuries when one of the masked offenders hit him on his head with a firearm butt. He is out of danger.

Five employees of the eSeva centre downed the shutters around 8 p.m. as it was closing time when the masked men barged in by lifting the shutters. One of them whipped out a revolver and held it to the temple of a 70-year-old customer threatening to kill them if they raised an alarm. After collecting cash from the counter, they made the employees and nine-odd customers stand in a row facing the wall, stuck plasters on their mouths and tied their hands with a rope. When they were about to flee, the centre’s cash collecting agent, along with a guard Kumar carrying a gun, walked in.

Mistaking the two men for customers, the robbers pulled them inside. When the guard tried to resist, they attacked him. Bolstered by Kumar’s daring act, the eSeva centre employees too tried to retaliate resulting in a fight.
