KOCHI: Karnataka’s eight-year-old Arjun Roshik Bharat forced West Bengal’s 10th-seeded Santu Mondal to a draw in the opening round of the 19th Cusat Open all-India FIDE-rated chess tournament at the Cochin University’s SMS Hall here on Sunday evening. The unseeded Arjun, who played the under-8 World Championship last year, produced the day’s only surprise. Olympian Shiny Wilson inaugurated the tournament. The results: Saptarshi Roy (WB) bt Alka Raj (Ker), S. Anand (TN) lost to R.R. Laxman (TN), Vinoth Kumar (TN) bt K.S. Anees Mohammed (Ker), Anilkumar Panda (Ori) lost to O.T. Anilkumar (Ker), M.B. Muraleedharan (Ker) bt Anish Aliyar (Ke r). Rupankar Nath (WB) bt Antu Mathew (Ker), S. Anurag (WB) lost to Naveen S. Hegde (Karn), P.V. Gireesh (Ker) bt M.
