CHENNAI: Indian star E. Robinson may miss the State basketball championship beginning on June 28. Writers BC recruited Robinson last month. An invaluable hoopster for India and IOB (before joining Writers), Robinson was suspended by the Tamil Nadu Basketball Association in December-January 2007 for “not turning up on time for the camp for the last Nationals.” Negotiations
During the last one week or so, Prem Lamech, GM, Writers-India (Chennai), has been negotiating with TNBA chief Dyaneshwaran to revoke the ban on Robinson so that he could represent Writers in the first phase of the State championship. The matter will be taken up at TNBA’s executive committee, TNBA said. But it has turned out that the executive committee will be held after the State championship. Earlier, Robinson had given a written apology to TNBA and the latter had accepted it. The 11-member executive committee will decide on Robinson’s fate probably in the second or third week of July. — Sports Reporter
