Water supply disrupted

Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Many parts of the city faced hours of disruption in the supply of drinking water due to a technical snag at the 86-mld treatment plant of the Kerala Water Authority at Aruvikkara.

The areas affected are those that are serviced by the reservoir at the Observatory Hills. At 2.30 a.m, on Sunday, the power supply to the treatment plant failed. Though power was restored five minutes later, a technical snag in the ‘vacuum pumps’ at the raw water intake point prevented the plant from working at normal capacity.

Normal supply could be established only late on Sunday.
