Private hospitals to conduct OP at PHCs, CHCs

KOCHI: Private hospitals in Ernakulam will join hands with the district health authorities in conducting out-patient (OP) services for a week at the primary health centres (PHCs), community health centres (CHC) and Government hospitals at places most affected by viral fever and chikungunya.

The services will begin on Monday. The District Medical Office had assigned a place each to 25 hospitals.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting, chaired by District Collector A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish, on Friday to help the health authorities tide over the crisis due to staff shortage. Camps will be organised at far-flung places. Don Bosco Hospital, Paravur, will conduct an OP at Government Hospital, Moothakunnam; Lissie Hospital at the PHC at Maneed; Kolencherry Medical Mission at the PHC at Pambakuda; Tata Hospital at the PHC at Arakuzhi; Lakshmi Hospital at the PHC at Pindimana; P.S. Hospital at the PHC at Nettoor; Thaqdees Hospital at PHC at Edathala; Port Trust Hospital at the PHC at Kumbalanghi; The Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences at the CHC at Piravom; Cochin Hospital at the PHC at Keecheri; Medical Trust Hospital at the CHC at Panangad; MAJ Hospital at the PHC at Kalamassery; Lourde Hospital at the PHC at Marady; Carmel Hospital at the PHC at Malayeddamthurath; P.V.S. Hospital at the PHC at Varapetty; Ernakulam Medical Centre at the PHC, at Kumarapuram; Sanjo Hospital at the PHC at Asamanoor; MAGJ Hospital at the PHC at Ayyampuzha; Vimala Hospital at the PHC at Kanjoor; Anwar Hospital at the PHC at Pallarimangalam; Korothukushi Hospital at the PHC at Vengoor; Indira Gandhi Cooperative Hospital at Government Hospital, Kalloorkadu’ Devi Hospital at the PHC at Thiruvankulam, Lakshmi Hospitla at the PHC at Pothanikadu and PNVM Hospital at the PHC at Payippara. On Sunday, 25 cases of suspected chikungunya were reported in the district, with five cases from Nellikuzhi, Kothamangalam.

There were 16 OP cases while nine are undergoing treatment at hospitals.
