CHENNAI: A woman doctor and nurse at a private clinic on Perambur-Madhavaram High Road were injured when two persons attacked them with a weapon and fled with jewellery weighing ten sovereigns on Saturday evening. Police said two youths, posing as patients came to the clinic at around 8.30 p.m. and after waiting for a while took out a knife and threatened the doctor and the nurse to part with their jewellery. When the women resisted, the youth assaulted them. The injured, identified as Ambika and Subbulakshmi, have been admitted to a hospital in Anna Nagar. Candidates protest
About 1,000 outstation candidates of a bank examination staged a demonstration on Sunday after they were informed that the examination was postponed due to a question paper leak in Kolkata. Police said the candidates had come to appear for the examination scheduled by a public sector bank. Since the information about the postponement did not reach many candidates, they resorted to a demonstration. After the police pacified them, they dispersed.
