Staff Reporter
Thiruvananthapuram: Of the 1,227 fever cases reported on Sunday, only 23 were suspected to be cases of chikungunya. The district has so far reported 644 suspected chikungunya cases. Cases have been coming down in the past one week as a result of the month-long intensive vector control and fever surveillance activities. No dengue or leptospirosis or malaria cases were reported on Sunday. However, 27 cases of diarrhoeal diseases were reported from various parts of the district. As monsoon intensified, people would have to take extra care to ensure that there are no opportunities for water-borne diseases, Health officials said. Two medical camps were organised in the district, at Vattiyoorkavu and at Perumkadavila, which was conducted by the army medical personnel.
