CHENNAI: Pehchaan Charitable Trust on Sunday distributed scholarships to poor students at a function in the city. Fisheries Minister K.P.P. Sami distributed the scholarships totalling Rs. 4.21 lakh to nearly 80 students. Assistance such as those provided by the Trust helped the underprivileged students, particularly those who are forced to discontinue their studies for want of funds, the Minister said.
Pehchaan Charitable Trust president Kalyan Chordia said the Trust had been distributing scholarships to economically weak students for the past nine years. He detailed the various programmes of the Trust, including free computer training being offered by its Sowcarpet centre. Minority Commission member Prayelal Pithaliya participated.
