Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala chapter of the Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI), the national body of domestic tour operators working for the promotion of domestic tourism in the country, will start functioning this week. The local chapter will be inaugurated by Minister for Tourism and Home Kodiyeri Balakrishnan at a function to be held at Hotel Mascot on June 28. ADTOI president Mukesh Jagga, Tourism Secretary V. Venu, KTDC Chairman Cherian Philip and chairman-designate of Kerala chapter Abraham George will attend the inaugural. Set up in 1996 to bring together all tour operators engaged in promotion of domestic tourism, ADTOI has over 200 members from all over India in the rolls. Main objective
Its main objectives include coordination with the Union Ministry of Tourism and State ministries to create three pre-requisites for tourism development, namely ‘Suvidha’, ‘Suraksha’ and ‘Soochana’. Educating the traveller, fostering healthy relations between tour operators, travel agents and promoting environment protection, cultural exchange and national integration are the other objectives.
