GUNTUR: An art exhibition by renowned artiste Chaudhury Satya Narayana Patnaik was opened on Sunday at the Patnaik’s Art Gallery here. Featuring some of the best works from the Octogenarian painter and sculptor, the exhibition drew scores art lovers in the city. The exhibition celebrates the 60 years of Patnaik’s work. The paintings have been enriched by diverse themes varying from the delights of motherhood to more contemporary themes. Paintings in different media from water colours to oils made the exhibition, a virtual delight. His paintings were marked by a preoccupation with the human body. The youthfulness of a woman and her movements make a delightful viewing. Tucked in a corner were, bronze sculptures carved by Patnaik. The delectable combination of bronze and copper in the sculptures showed glimpses of his craftsmanship. The exhibition also featured clay models depicting the majestic glory of Indian culture and heritage. A statue of a human being leaning on the ground in pain made up of terracotta is a feast to the eyes. The master artiste made the city his home way back in 1962 when he took up appointment as a crafts teacher in the Government’s Women College here. Since then, he has been mastering the work, winning many national and international accolades.
