VISAKHAPATNAM: They came in overwhelming numbers. While some lapped up lucrative offers, for others it opened up new vistas for their future. Close to 20,000 candidates attended The Hindu Opportunities Fair – 2007 that concluded here at the Rajeev Gandhi Indoor Stadium on Sunday. Over 20 companies participated in the fair offering hundreds of jobs in the areas such as IT, ITES and BPO. The fair offered an opportunity to get the highest possible number of prospects in the shortest possible amount of time. Hordes of experienced, talented and fresh-out-of-college candidates made a beeline to the job fair on both the days galvanizing HR managers to make as many inductions as possible. Candidates who were focused and prepared were the ones who got to snaffle the offer. And the others soaked up all the experience and tips that were given by the company representatives that would hold them in good stead . At the end of day two, the main sponsors of the event, Cognizant selected 27 that include short-listed candidates and those who were given offers, Genpact short-listed 200 candidates, Allsec offered 3 and shortlisted 7, Sankhya short-listed 17 candidates, Nipuna offered three, Skylark shortlisted seven, Wipro 2, Xinthe eight, Brigade came up with offer letters to 40, SlashSupport gave away letters to 57 and HSBC shortlisted 23.
