‘Protest against song baseless’
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: Reacting to the Hindu Jagarana Vedike’s reported protest in Bellary against a song of his next film Preethi Bhoomi Mele Ekide director Prem has said that the song was not meant to hurt the sentiments of any communit
y or individuals.
He told presspersons here on Saturday that the purpose of the song “Sulle Sullu” was to expose the deception of mind and matter in general terms with universal application punctuated by philosophical notes.
He could not understand the logic and reasoning behind finding fault with the song and politicising it. The vedike reportedly demanded a ban on the film as a song in it would hurt the sentiments of Hindus and their philosophical outlook.
On the question of his reported dues to the police, he said that he had paid the due fee to the department for having hired its service for his marriage and shooting purposes.
He said that he was surprised and pained by the reports in media that he owed money to the police department.
He had paid the fees officially charged by the police for extending security for his marriage and the cinema crew during outdoor shootings.
Asked how much amount he had paid to the police for hiring their security services and towards the Police Welfare Fund, Mr. Prem refused to give details.
