Nagapattinam: The ‘Sandanakoodu’ procession, the main event of the ‘Kandoori’ festival of the Nagore Dargah, will be taken out at 8.30 p.m. on Monday from Nagapattinam to Nagore. Thousands of devotees and pilgrims from various parts of the country and abroad are participating in the 450th year fortnight-long `Kandoori’ festival that began on June 16. The death anniversary of Saint Hazrath Syed Shahul Hameed Quadir Wali is being celebrated as ‘Kandoori’ festival every year. The ‘Sandanakoou’ (carrying pots with sandal paste) will be taken out in a colourful procession that will start from Nagapattinam will reach Nagore the same night. The anointment of sandal paste at the Dargah will be performed around 4.30 a.m. on Tuesday (June 26). The festival concludes on June 29 night with the dismounting of the holy flag. The Nagapattinam district administration has declared local holiday for all Government offices in the district on Tuesday (June 26) in connection with the ‘Kandoori’ festival.
