Congress leader charge against police

Staff Reporter

BERHAMPUR: Former State finance Minister and Congress leader Ramkrushna Patnaik alleged that police had helped BJD and BJP goons to create mischief during the Congress demonstration at Kavisuryanagar block office on Saturday.

It may be noted that during this demonstration, police lathicharge and a stampede following a blast of large cracker had injured more than 50 persons including Congress workers, police and administrative officials. Addressing a press conference over the incident in the city on Sunday afternoon, Mr.Patnaik alleged that some policemen and miscreants hiding inside the block office had thrown stones at the demonstrators as well as at his car. “How could stones come from inside of the block office when police was guarding its front gate,” he said.

Similarly, he said, a cracker was thrown from the premises of the block office.
