While Naidu did not invite even senior party leaders, Balakrishna extended invitation to bigwigs in the film industry

HYDERABAD: The engagement function of former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s son Lokesh with actor N. Balakrishna’s daughter, Brahmani at the latter’s Jubilee Hills residence on Sunday was a starry affair with most of the who’s-who in tinseltown turning up for the event. Traditional ceremony over, the marriage was fixed for August 26.

The event per se was strictly out of bounds for a large media contingent that arrived at his residence much before the muhurtam of the engagement.

The media persons covered as much as they were allowed to, standing on the road.

Interestingly, while Mr. Naidu made it a point not to invite even the senior-most of his party colleagues, Mr. Balakrishna appeared to have gone all out in extending invitations to the bigwigs of the industry.

Among the first who drove in were Balakrishna’s sister and Union Minister of State for HRD Purandareswari and her husband Daggubati Venkateswara Rao. They were followed by his brothers – Jayakrishna, Harikrishna, Ramakrishna et al. As the groom’s party drove up in a private Volvo bus, they were received by Mr. Balakrishna and his wife, as filmmaker K. Raghavendra Rao assisted them in ushering the VIPs in.

Tinseltown’s biggies came in an apparently never-ending stream. They included D. Rama Naidu, his elder son D. Suresh Babu, thespian Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Nagarjuna, M. Mohan Babu, Krishnam Raju, Gummadi Venkateshwara Rao and others. Megastar Chiranjeevi was represented by producer Allu Arvind and his family.
