Trains delayed
Thiruvananthapuram: Arrival of several long-haul mail and express trains to the Thiruvananthapuram central station continues to be delayed as the Railways cannot operate electric locomotives from Kochuveli. The overhead mast near the Uppidamoodu bridge was damaged after a tree fell into the traction wires in heavy rain on Friday. Eight trains hauled by electric engines are being stopped at Kochuveli to be coupled with diesel locomotives and hauled to the central station. However, electric locomotives are being run from the central station on the second track. Sabari, Kerala, Chennai and Kannur express trains are getting delayed by 20 to 30 minutes. Railway sources said there was delay in replacing the overhead mast.
