PALAKKAD: Minister for Housing and Forest Benoy Viswom has said that the Kerala State Housing Board (KSHB) will issue title deeds to buyers of its houses and flats within two months. Inaugurating the Rental Housing Scheme for Government employees at Mattumantha here on Sunday, the Minister said there were widespread complaints from buyers that they had not been given the deeds for decades. The Government examined the problem, and the Board had given shape to a scheme, which would be inaugurated in two months. He said the Board had launched another scheme, estimated at Rs. 29.75 crore, to write off dues of buyers from lower-income groups who found it difficult to repay loans. This scheme would benefit 60,000 people, he said. The Minister said the Kerala Habitat Centre in Thiruvananthapuram, for which the foundation stone was laid by President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, would be completed in a time-bound manner. The Rental Housing Scheme had 78 flats constructed at a cost of Rs. 3.24 crore.
