Corrections and clarifications

A report “Judges, lawyers urged to minimise adjournment of hearings” (June 23, 2007), and the caption of the accompanying photograph, referred to Mr. K. Parasaran as a former Solicitor-General. The last office he ld by Mr. Parasaran was of Attorney-General for India, a Presidential appointment under Article 76 of the Constitution. It should have been “former Attorney-General K. Parasaran”.

“Memorial for Sirkazhi Trinity: [Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.] Karunanidhi” was the heading of a report (Tamil Nadu, June 17, 2007).Who the trinity were was not explained. They are Marimutha Pillai, Arunachala Kavirayar and Muthuthandavar who lived in the 18th Century and were poets, whose compositions in Tamil are still sung.
