Monks demand CBI probe

PATNA: More Buddhist monks are protesting against the felling of branches of the sacred Bodhi tree in the Mahabodhi temple in Bodh Gaya, demanding that the entire episode be probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation.

All-India Monks Association Chief Bhadant Anand alleged that the State Government had sought to hush up the matter when it caused a world wide stir in July last year and that only a CBI probe could establish the facts satisfactorily for anxious Buddhists across the world.
