Nine sentenced for murder of Haren Pandya

AHMEDABAD: The designated POTA court judge, Sonia Gokani, on Monday sentenced nine persons, including the principal accused Ashghar Ali, to life imprisonment on the charge of murder of the former Gujarat Home Minister , Haren Pandya.

Two other accused were sentenced to seven-year prison terms each while one was sentenced to five years imprisonment.

Pronouncing her judgment in camera in the high security Sabarmati central jail here, Ms Gokani said she was not giving the death sentence to any of the guilty because in her opinion it was not one of the “rarest of the rare cases.”
