Amman to host Asian athletics

NEW DELHI: The Asian athletics championships, originally scheduled to be held in Beirut, will now be held in Amman, Jordan.

The Secretary of the Asian Athletics Association (AAA), Maurice Nicholas, said in Guwahati on Saturday that the dates would be announced later. The championships were earlier scheduled in Beirut from July 29 to August 2.

The July-end-August slot is likely to be retained, barring any minor adjustment.

Beirut had expressed its inability to hold the meet because of the prevailing situation in Lebanon. — Special Correspondent
