7 killed in train accident

Guwahati: Seven persons, including the driver, were killed when two locomotives and seven wagons of a goods train fell 200 feet off a bridge between Dihakho and Mupa on the metre gauge Lumding-Badarpur Hill Section in the Northeast Frontier Railway on Monday morning.

The train, carrying an FCI consignment of rice, was on its way to Badarpur when it fell off bridge 108 around 9.45 a.m. Driver Deepak Sen and six trackmen died on the spot.

Seven persons including assistant driver M.K. Rajak were injured, Trikalgya Rabha, chief public relations officer, NF Railway, said in a press release. They were shifted to hospital.
