A French connection

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: It’s music with a French connection. Three women musicians – Mademoiselle K, Anais and Emily Loizeau from varied backgrounds from France will present their signature style to music lovers in Bangalore in an event called – what else – “French Kiss” on Tuesday at the Alliance Francaise.

“Our music is interactive and we want the audience to feel the energy and respond to our music and communicate with us. In India, we found that the audience is not very demonstrative but they listen very attentively,” said Anais.

Anais’ music is a mix of French folk, blues, chanson, rap, ragamuffin and heavy metal. She plays the acoustic guitar.

The French Kiss tour is part of the annual Fete de la Musique, also known as the World Music Festival, a festival that promotes music irrespective of genres in an effort to make it accessible to the general public.

The event will feature a performance by the Indian band, Raghu Dixit Project, which will present Indian folk music with a contemporary touch.

“We are going to perform a contemporary “rock” version of Sant Shishunala Sharif, poet saint of Karnataka for this particular do,” said Raghu Dixit, lead member of the band.
