KOZHIKODE: The Kerala State Women’s Commission has sought a report from the Police Superintendent on the allegation of a woman that despite repeated complaints of harassment by her husband, the police failed to initiate action against him. Directive to police
At a sitting held at the Collectorate conference hall here on Monday, T. Devi, Member of the commission, wanted the police to inquire and submit a report on the harassment suffered by the woman who is the mother of three children. The man, who was present before the commission, agreed to provide Rs.1,000 a month to her. In another case the commission directed the relatives that the youth in the habit of prying on young women at night be subjected to psychiatric examination. The direction came on a petition filed by a woman student of the Government Law College here. As many as 21 cases were taken up for hearing.
