KOCHI: Shortage of loco pilots affected goods train traffic in the Thiruvananthapuram Division of Southern Railways. The All-India Loco Running Staff Association said in a press release that loco pilots had been on a non-cooperation stir from June 1. They have been demanding filling of vacancies. The association office-bearers said the stir was also in protest against what they termed increased workload. Over work
Association secretary P.N. Soman said that the number of loco pilots has been cut down, following which existing pilots were forced to be on duty for well over eight hours. A Railway official admitted that movement of goods trains was affected.
