Pakistan takes umbrage at comments from kin
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan today termed the assertions by the relatives of 1971 Indian Prisoners of War of not being allowed access to military prisons during their recent visit to the country as “ungrateful.” Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam told reporters here that Pakistan was not obliged to allow this visit as efforts to find any missing persons were already taken during the 70s, 80s, and 90s.
“But it was out of consideration for these parties that we allowed them to come here and allowed them to visit 10 jails,” she said. Responding to a query on the comments of the 14-member Indian delegation that they visited only civilian jails, Aslam said, “we assured them that there were no Indians in military detention centres.” —PTI
