Corporation puts off tender finalisation once again

CHENNAI: The Chennai Corporation has again postponed the finalisation of tenders for eight infrastructure projects in the city to Wednesday.
The opening of the bids, scheduled for Friday, had already been moved to Monday.
Local body representatives said that the financial bids would be opened on Wednesday.
Eight projects
The eight projects, whose revised estimates total over Rs. 110 crore, are the Perambur flyover, Villivakkam subway, MC Road subway, Korukkupet subway, Cochrane Basin Kathivakkam flyover, Rangarajapuram flyover and the Jones Road subway. Some of the project proposals date back to 1998. Earlier, the revised estimates was Rs. 82.76 crore.
Funding
The Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) will be funding some 35 per cent of the older estimates, besides providing a soft loan for a further 15 per cent.
