It will enable industries and institutions to exchange views
The event will create business opportunity for engineering service providers

BANGALORE: An international forum, bringing together engineers from academic institutes and industry, from India and overseas, “Engineering Design.in 2007”, will be held here in August.

The three-day meet is being organised jointly by ProSim R&D Centre, the Centre for Product Development and Manufacturing at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc.), and the Indian Society for Technical Education. “Engineering Design.in 2007” intends to enable industries and institutions to exchange views on the challenges and opportunities offered by computer-aided techniques that are now being increasingly used in engineering design.

“India is set to become a global giant in design and engineering services, with a NASSCOM study predicting that outsourced business to India in this area will be worth $40 billion by 2020. It is also going to be a potential research and development destination for global companies. In order to meet this demand, it is therefore important that we enhance our capabilities through training and collaboration,” said S. Shamasundar of ProSim.

Besides being a technology forum to disseminate the latest advances in technology, the event will also create a business opportunity for global engineering service providers and seekers, especially in the areas of automotive, aerospace engineering and materials in design. The registration fee would be nominal for students, said Dr. Shamasundar. The event will be held between August 9 and 11 at the NSSC Complex, IISC, and will be attended by 1,000 delegates.
