Move on schools a ‘historical blunder’

KOCHI: The move by Left Democratic Front Government to hand over the responsibility for school education to panchayats is a “historical blunder,” former Justice of the Supreme Court V. R. Krishna Iyer has said. He was inaugurating a convention by Kerala Samsthana Janakiya Pradhirodha Samithi and Pothuvidyabhasa Samrakshna Samithi against the move. He said that education was being handed over to panchayats that could not even develop roads. The new move would only help turn poor students into future goondas.
