Houses promised to parents of children washed away in rain

HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer, C.V.S.K. Sarma on Monday reiterated that top priority has been accorded for desiltation of nalas with more machines and men being engaged to complete the task. He admitted that over the years such work was not taken up properly and said he had inspected all the nalas from the time he took charge. Dr. Sarma was addressing a gathering after Ministers Koneru Ranga Rao and Mukesh Goud presented cheques of Rs. 1 lakh each to families of the three children who died in the recent rains.
Mr. Mukesh presented an additional amount of Rs.20,000 from his personal funds to the parents of the victims. The Commissioner expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and urged parents to keep a vigil on their children during heavy downpours. Minister for Municipal Administration Koneru Ranga Rao said that all the three bereaved families would be allotted houses either from Rajiv Gruha Kalpa scheme or other schemes.
