AUSPICIOUS BEGINNING: S.P. Singh, adviser, Homoeopathy, Department of AYUSH, inaugurating postgraduate courses in Mangalore on Monday. Bishop of Mangalore Aloysius Paul D’Souza is seen.
Mangalore: The homoeopathic system of medicine is economical, effective and reliable. It has stood the test of time and become popular in several countries, Adviser, Homoeopathy, Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) S.P.Singh said on Monday. He was speaking after inaugurating four new post-graduate courses at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College here. With the inauguration of these courses in medicine, paediatrics, psychiatry and pharmacy, the college has become the only one in the State to offer post-graduation in all seven homeopathy disciplines. Dr. Singh said all kinds of diseases could be treated through homoeopathy. There were180 institutions, 292 hospitals, and 5,398 dispensaries dealing with homoeopathy today. A total of 1,32,356 doctors practiced homoeopathy in the country. The department of AYUSH was taking steps to encourage research and promote homeopathy as a system, he said. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore said post-graduation was not an option but a necessity in the competitive world of today. Baptist Menezes, Director, Father Muller Charitable Institutions, S.K. Tiwari, Principal, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, Stanley Tauro, Administrator, Father Muller Homeopathic Medical College and others were present.
