KOCHI: Only four out of the 25 private hospitals assigned to take up out-patient services in the district went about their tasks on Monday. The rest failed to send a team to the places assigned to them. The District Medical Officer said that while some hospitals had informed that they would send a team from Tuesday, others were yet to confirm their participation in the programme. The district health authorities had called upon private hospitals to cooperate with the Government’s public health campaign to tackle viral fever and chikungunya cases. Representatives of only 25 out of the 100-odd private hospitals had attended the meeting which was convened to solicit their cooperation. The hospitals that sent a team were Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences to Piravom, Kolencherry Medical College Hospital to Pampakuda, Medical Trust Hospital to Panangad and Thaqdees Hospital to Edathala. Lourdes Hospital and Lissie Hospital will send a team to Marady and Maneed on Tuesday. On Monday, 26 suspected chikungunya cases were reported, five each from Kuttampuzha and Edakkattuvayal. Three cases each were reported from Udayamperoor, Kottapady and Valakkam, two each from Keerampara and Marady and one each from Kanjiramattam, Varapetty, and Arakunnam.
