NEW DELHI: The Union Home Ministry is keeping a watch on the situation in the naxal violence-affected States in the wake of the two-day economic blockade called by the Maoist cadres to protest against the Government’s economic policies. Senior officials of the Ministry are in constant touch with their counterparts particularly in Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, a Home Ministry spokesman said here on Tuesday. He said advisories have been issued to the concerned States but the Ministry had not sent any additional Central forces. The spokesman said Maoist cadres have mainly targeted railway tracks, trains, power transmission equipment in different places in Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. At some places, security forces have foiled attempts of the Maoist cadres to damage the railway tracks and blow up a power transmitter.
