HYDERABAD: The lunar mission Chandrayaan will be ready for launch by mid-2008, Indian Space Research Organisation Chairman G. Madhavan Nair said on Monday. The ISRO was establishing a 32-metre diameter antenna for the ‘satellite bus,’ besides instituting a Line Space technology, which would aid in visual mapping of the moon and its surface. “It’s an out-and-out indigenous satellite. We will be carrying out a series of tests on the satellite for the next six months,” Mr. Nair told mediapersons at a convocation of the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering here. The ISRO was also working on launching the Geosynchronous Solar Launch Vehicle again this year. The flaws, which caused the failure of the July 10, 2006 launch, were identified and corrected. “At the pace we are going, it would be ready for launch by August or September.”
