KOZHIKODE: The Malabar Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday urged the Centre to take steps to persuade the Kuwait Government to review its decision not to allow Indian aircraft to land in Kuwait from July 1. Joint representation
Chamber president P. Zakeer and Calicut Airport Committee chairman P.V. Chandran have sent a joint representation to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Praful Patel, Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs E. Ahamed to intervene in the issue. A ban on the operations of Indian services would be a major setback to Indians in Kuwait. Impact of the ban
The adverse impact of the ban would be felt severely in Northern Kerala since Indian and Air India were the only airlines operating between Kuwait and Kozhikode, the representation said. The representation drew attention to the report which said that the Kuwaiti decision was in response to the denial of permission to the airlines of Kuwait to operate more services to destinations in India.
