Looted: The petrol outlet near Buvanahalli on the outskirts of Hassan that was raided by a dacoit gang.
HASSAN: Six persons allegedly broke into Gajanana petrol outlet by shattering its glass panels. They assaulted four persons and took away Rs. 45,000 and gold ornaments weighing 150 gm. At 9.30 p.m. on Monday, a six-member gang entered the petrol bunk on Hassan-Bangalore Road (NH 48) near Boovanahalli Cross in the outskirts of Hassan. The owner of the petrol outlet, Nagabhushan, his son Sharat and employee Pape Gowda were counting the cash, when suddenly six persons entered the outlet and assaulted them with wooden sticks. Before that they had assaulted watchman Javare Gowda who was sitting outside. They took away Rs 45,000 in cash, a gold ring and a gold chain belonging to Mr. Sharat. Pankaja, wife of Nagabhushan came to pick up her husband and son from the petrol outlet. The assailants also attacked her and took away gold ornaments weighing 100 gm from her. Their attempt to take her ear rings failed. Then they fled from the scene. Mr. Sharat who sustained injuries in his legs and Mr. Javare Gowda who sustained head injuries are undergoing treatment in Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences. Mr.Nagabhushan and Mr. Pape Gowda who sustained serious head injuries were shifted to Bangalore after being treated at HIMS. Rudrappa DSP, who is investigating the case said the police had definite clues.
