Menu change at relief camps
What would be the daily menu for those housed in relief camps in the district? According to Thiruvananthapuram Additional District Magistrate (ADM) K. Surendran, people living in relief camps can only be given a specified quantity of rice and pulses. At least that is what the relevant rules say.
“When we opened the camps we asked ourselves whether we would make do with rice and pulses if we ourselves were to be housed in the camps. So we tried to give the people what they would normally have,” said Mr. Surendran.
So, at the camp at Poonthura, for instance, breakfast is ‘parotta’ and eggs. Fish is part of the lunch/dinner menu which also includes a curry and ‘avial.’
